“You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension – a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.”
This famous quote from the original 1960’s Twilight Zone television series is the perfect introduction to up and coming hip hop artist K-JiL (aka Kevin Jenkins). Born in Baltimore, Maryland and now residing in Queens, K-JiL has been creating a persona for himself in New York City as “the lead underdog”. He blends elements of hip-hop, rock, pop, and even some classical components. He brings his imagination into his music to take listeners for a ride. With his 50’s image and high-energy stage presence, K-JiL breaks the boundaries of what a rapper should sound and look like. “I wanna do what I want with my music”, says the lead underdog.
K-JiL’s previously released LP, “The Comfort Zone”, is being remastered and re-released with a bonus track sometime this year. Here is his video for “Comfort Zone”.
