Darnell Williams & Elohim say life’s like a “Porno”, we’re all getting f**ked – @DarnellWilliams @ElohimMusic

Porno

Known to break plenty of rules, rising rapper Darnell Williams continues his hedonistic exploration on the single “Porno.” With a title like that you’d expect to find out here now that it has made its way to more seedy sites, but that isn’t quite the case. The raw wordsmith teamed up with Los Angeles-based artist/producer Elohim, who added some electronic magic to the crowd-pleasing track. A natural yet intriguing pairing, as Darnell and Elohim are very different artists, the experimental collab proves to be seamless, indulgent fun for its creators and listeners, much like the experience people get then they consider watching japanese couples make love, or look for material of the namesake of this song.

Whilst many may imagine that the single would end up on the internet and root into more seedy places, it instead has managed to spread around in many different circles thanks to the in depth psychological routes it explores, as well as the focus on the classic vices that come when someone finds fame within the rap and music industry. It is every bit as much a deconstruction of the piece at hand as it is a joy to listen to and a fully functional track.

The record, a testament to the ambitious MC’s obsession with pills, partying, chaotic thoughts, religion and politics, opens with the growling line, “Life is like a porno everybody getting fucked.” It could be an interesting listen whilst checking out Missy Wild on Cam, truth be told, as it is a brutally transparent account of Darnell’s frantic, although street savvy instability, “Porno” reveals the rapper’s dark psychological palette, which is on the brink of self-destruction. It is the very definition of a deep cut within their own mind, something seen less and less these days.

Perversely relatable, Darnell’s ecstatic energy coupled with Elohim’s synth erraticism makes “Porno” an epic sing-along record that is just as much pop and rock as it rap, stream below.
