What’s up? For those that are new to the name, who are you, where are you from and what do you do?
I am Brandon Powers, Stix; from a small town in Ogle County in Illinois called Byron. I just love making the arts whether its visual, musical, or even helping those with such tasks!
How long have you been involved in making music and who are some of your influences?
I have been writing all my childhood at the least, 6 months or even more ago I been told by more than a small handful; to just about my whole town, even some other Ogle towns are behind my movement! None in particular, jist the ones who stuck with it from the beginning in this industry because I have read/seen it gets really hard.
What current projects are you working on?
My first mixtape!! I am going to do 100% beats and all, with features of hometown lyricists and hometown video crews!!
How do you describe your style as an artist?
My style is on the very “high” side of things hahaha, so more of the dreamy, laid back type music, positive energy you know. Originality is one thing I do truly have!!
What are you doing to stand out in today’s saturated music industry?
Not talking about the big city life more then less, just saying my life experiences and story.
How do you feel about today’s mainstream hip hop scene?
It is an influence to many some who don’t even realize it’s impact, which is huge by the way, from trends, lifestyle, all the way to belief it is an art on its own!!
