Today marks the day of the full length release of Marshall Mathers’ latest offering, “Guts Over Fear”.
The song features “Chandelier” singer Sia and was produced by Emile (Going Thru Changes & Headlights) and is featured in the upcoming Denzel Washington movie “The Equalizer”. In the song, Em speaks on his upbringing and battles faced on his journey in the music industry. Though on more of a commercial appeal, we get Shady at his most vulnerable.
And it just breaks my heart to look at all the pain I’ve caused
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone?
And the lights go out in that trailer park?
And the window that was closing and there’s nowhere else I can go with flows in
And I’m frozen cause there’s no more emotion for me to pull from
Just a bunch of playful songs that I made for fun
So to the break of dawn here I go recycling the same, old song
But I’d rather make “Not Afraid 2” than make another mothafuckin’ “We Made You” uh
These types of deep lyrics will have you rewinding and deciphering the song for quite some time. “Guts Over Glory” is the lead off single from Eminem’s upcoming double disc album “Shady XV”, dropping this Black Friday.
