(Q.) What’s going on? Let the people know about you, who you are, where your from and what you represent.
(A.) What’s up. My name is Bo Dean, you may also know me by Bovember or The Fro. I am from St. Louis, Missouri and I represent the future of hip-hop and my city.
(Q.) How does being from St. Louis affect the music you make?
(A.) Coming from this city makes me have that “Show and Prove” mind state, because I feel that my city gets overlooked far as talent is concerned. You can hear the hunger in my music and unique sound. And it’s not just me, you can hear it in a lot of artist music here. St. Louis has always had a unique sound. I think that’s why Nelly, Kwan, Chingy, etc. popped so hard. But we have way more styles and talent then what the listeners are already accustomed to. Just stay tuned.
(Q.) Who are some of your influences? (Musical/non musical)
(A.) Michael Jackson, Fabolous, Wayne, Jay Z, my parents, My 8th grade teacher Mr Kuehl, Civil Rights activist(s), my peers and (the) environment are a few influences. lol
(Q.) Who is your dream collaboration?
(A.) I would love to do a collaboration with Fabolous man. That’s my favorite rapper and I believe that it would be legendary. Also me and Nelly, 2 generations of St. Louis on one record would be monumental for the city.
(Q.) What are your thoughts on winning male artist of the year at the Slumfest Music Awards?
(A.) I was honored to win that award. Let’s me know that my work and talent is being noticed by my city and they respect it. It just motivates me to reach even higher plateaus. Next goal is to receive an AMA and Grammy.
(Q.) The “Bovember” series is garnering both critical acclaim and tons of fanfare, what’s next?
(A.) Yes it has. I will be releasing videos from this project for a while so expect more visuals. Far as projects go, I’m not sure what I will be dropping next. As of right now I’m just recording songs. I have a few ideas in mind, #MashUp2 is definitely one of them but I might hold off until I get an even bigger fan base. I feel another project like that deserves way more attention. But as soon as I come to a conclusion on what I’m releasing this year I will definitely give you guys the exclusive.
(Q.) When it’s all said and done what do you want people to remember most? What do you want your legacy to be?
(A.) I just want people to remember me for giving them great music. I want them to remember me as being an inspiration to them and making music that got them through certain points in their lives and changed their lives. I want to be why future artist(s) even picked up a pen or was inspired to do a certain project/song/ style etc. I want to be legendary.
(Q.) Will you ever cut the fro?
(A.) That is a question that only the future (like decades from now) has the answers to. lol
(Q.) What does getyourbuzzup mean to you?
(A.) What getyourbuzzup means to me is a great support system for any artist looking for a platform to get heard. The fact that you guys reached out to me is very appreciative. It shows that you guys are actually tuned in to the underground scene and checking out whose making noise and has skills. Artist should definitely get in touch with these guys.
