The D.A. (Dangerous Affiliation) is a shining example of hip hop done tastefully. Lyrical Biz and Ediquette are both solo artists who found power in numbers when introduced to one another in August of 2011.
Astonished by each other’s dynamic range in content and delivery, the two began to stockpile songs with Glasshouse producer and founder Jon Glass. Through this process, The D.A. also started working with many local artists in the music industry and compiled this project, detailing their everyday struggles and relationship issues. The Ball’s In Your Court is sure to deliver a healthy dose of soul with every listen, with features from Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother fame and R.E.K.S. of ShowOff Records.
The first single, “Ease My Mind”, is a song packed with the frustrations of life. Everything from the title to the sample is as literal as it gets. This was a great opportunity for both Biz and Ediquette, with a fresh appearance from Boofkid, to really just go in, vent and give their new fans an up-close and personal look inside their minds. With a mission to bring a fresh breath to conscious rap, The D.A. plan to put a new spin on classic boom bap soul with this single and mixtape.
“I really wanted to capture a 90’s vibe with this track with a soulful sample and boom bap drums that carry the beat, along with make-shift cuts in the chorus to keep the vibe classic” is how Jon describes the production of the single.
The video was filmed and edited by Myster DL for Ill Mannered Films, during one Massachusetts’ famous snowstorms.
