Rotten N Rich Records recording artist Reality drops his third single from off of his recently released album “Back II Reality” called “Victory”. In the song, Reality touches on subject matters consisting of slavery, the violence in Chicago and inner city struggles. Here’s what Reality had to say when asked about the single:
Anyone that knows the slightest thing about me, musically, knows that I’m drawn to horns more than any other instrument. That being said, I was feeling an itch to create a new song and was building heavy with my Rec Center bandmate, G/NO, at the time. Because he knows my taste in tracks so well, I simply told him “I need a track that has that ‘Reality stamp’ on it”. He in turn sent me this track that had Curtis Mayfield’s powerful vocals sprinkled over these infectious horns. I was sold immediately!
At the time, Chicago’s violence was plastered all over the news to the point where they were “considering” putting the state of emergency flag up and calling in the National Guard for assistance.
So the combination of what was on my heart & mind at the time of receiving the beat pushed my pen to create “Victory!”. The kicker is, i later found out that Curtis Mayfield was a Chicago native, so that particular piece of information made this particular song feel even more necessary. Increase the peace.
