Los Angeles-based recording artist Darell Simms verbally combines “Elements” to muster up a highly energetic visual treatment for the lead off single from his album, “Wilcox Ave”. At one time calling the country of Sweden home Simms burning passion for crafting music lead him back to the states. Thus far, he’s released three official projects, “BoiTroy” EP, his first official mixtape and rebranding, “The First Blink” and his latest EP, “Wilcox Ave”.
Darell shows strong growth from his last effort, “The First Blink”, which was released around two years ago. One of the project’s standout cuts, “The Gardens”, amassed 16k views on Youtube. His new material, like the aforementioned “Elements”, introduces us to a more matured emcee. However, he still keeps it super wavy like on the Calogeno & Mike Marty-featured, “Brown”.
With 2018 underway, Simms gathers with his comrades and unleash methodical audio madness for over three minutes. Filmed by Ralph Lucchese & Bj Jensen, their smooth shots and edits match Darrell and company’s powerful energy. Make sure to keep an eye on this artist thru the year and check out the “Wilcox Ave” project after the video.
Darrell Simms is an artist and rapper currently based in Los Angeles. Born in Florida and raised by his Jamaican mother and Danish stepfather, Darrell moved with his family to the southern part of Sweden when he was 10. It was at that age that young Darrell discovered music through his mother’s CD collection; Michael Jackson’s “History/Past/Present” album gave him his first taste of music and hooked him into exploring further, including musicians such as Gorillaz, George Michael, and Outkast. Poetry was the first creative outlet Darrell expressed himself in, which quickly led him to hip-hop lyrics, inspired by Lil Wayne’s “Gossip.” Follow Darrell on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter or subscribe to his YouTube Channel for new releases. Darrell’s previous releases can be found on his Soundcloud page.
