Rio Mutasim, a Chicago native, is the pinnacle of what we call a diverse artist. Holding the talents of singer, songwriter, and rapper, he is also one half of the Alternative Hip-Hop & Rock duo Clybourn’s Alley. Mutasim also directs most of his own videos and writes screenplays in his free time. Rio started on music at an early age of eleven years old when his big brother wrote a battle rap for him. He practiced it day and night to impress his brother, and found his love for the craft within the action.
From then on, Mutasim wrote his own lyrics to his favorite songs of the time eventually coming in contact with Tyler Peal, they both wrote and recorded their remixes in a closet in Tyler’s house. Rio continued on this path throughout high school, eventually becoming a poet in the Louder Than A Bomb competition. Falling in love with the words, and the delivery of other poets, Rio worked harder on his lyrics and diction, making him the artist he is today.
