Los Angeles emcee Skribbal debuts his horror movie-styled “Drug Spun Funk” via The Label Records. With numerous mixtapes under his belt, the West Coast native directs his attention towards his darker emotions such as anger, resentment, abandonment and substance abuse. With the aid on The Label associates Dennis Enright, Emmanuel “Apakalips” Contreras and James Broadway, they channel a Horrorcore basis sound that made groups such as The Gravediggaz and Flatlinaz famous during the nineties.
Skribbal does an exceptional job of finding his comfort zone in the production as well. Listen as the intro track “The Gift” begins. Comprised of rugged piano melodies, the L.A. lyricist barrels thru lyrics like a deranged, trigger happy lunatic. The album samples segments of adult comic Andrew “Dice” Clay and keeps in the tone of the starting track. DSF also carries guest slots from artists like Copywrite, The Jokerr and Joel Conner. “Drug Spun Funk” can be heard and purchased below.
