Who would’ve ever thought that when speaking about true Hip Hop, the state of Nebraska would be mentioned? But then you witness the brand new video from Third Eye Merchants titled “Red Death” and a long line of jaws begin to drop. The duo consists of Static Soul and Downtown James Brown and for this particular presentation, they team up with Articulate & DJ Really Real for a monster production.
Having came up in the nineties, this video ment even more to me as it plays out like a VHS tape from what is arguable the best decade Hip Hop has ever seen. Dope scratches on the chorus add to the authentic effect of “Red Death”, with equally insane production handled by Downtown James Brown himself. Both emcees provide intellectual lyricism on both verses as well, matching the acid trip of a visual perfectly. If Nebraska has more talent like Third Eye Merchants, fake emcees beware. The song is featured on their latest EP, “VISIONS”, which is being presented as a free download. Do yourself a favor and check out the “Kung Fury” styled video for “Red Death”.
