As their name implies, WeAreV boasts a seniority in their approach to making music that is derived from the life long experiences of being raised in the one place where it’s purpose is to touch and uplift the soul; the black church. All four members, including the group’s founder Swift_Fresh(24), Preach Gold (24), LA Jones (24), Conc3pt(24) and Bugg (24), are bonafide preacher’s kids from Brooklyn. They each come to the game with a renewed sensibility of music, that is not only proud to showcase music’s elements of celebration, but also respect the act of its performance as if it were a ceremony. More than just fresh cuts and fresh kicks, V have more than their fair share of Brooklyn’s immediately recognizable swagger. It’s a slow cooked bitch’s brew part choir practice, part block party that could only be perfected in Brooklyn. From the bridge to the boardwalk, they represent best the borough has to offer.
At live performances one can bear witness as V invite naysayers to get familiar and eventually pledge allegiance to their cadence and camaraderie that is as rambunctious as Kid & Play. As authentic as The Roots and yet just as relevant as Tribe Called Quest. Check out their latest endeavor Wait Til I” and see if you can remain still for more than twenty seconds.
