Imma Eat1

What’s up Buzzers? For this edition of our “Buzz’N” iNterview series, we head down to Dallas, Texas to visit with the fast rising rapper King Deezy. We’ll be speaking about his latest single “Imma Eat”, prior singles and what’s in store for the upcoming year. Without any further ado, let’s get into it.

Thanks for joining us King Deezy. To start things off, could you give us details on your background and explain your particular style of music?

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I grew up on the Southside of Dallas. I’m a simple kind of guy. I love spending time with my kids, doing music and watching my Cowboys dominate the NFL. I’ve been doing music since the age of 14; freestyling during lunch and around the neighborhood with my homies. Also, my particular style of music is like a melting pot with different flavors of meaning to it.

Texas is known best for the chopped & screwed music made famous by DJ Screw. With that being said, should we expect any of your current or upcoming releases to get a screw treatment?

First I wanna say R.I.P to a legend, DJ Screw but to answer your question no I don’t see screw music being mixed up in any of my up and coming projects. I’m headed in a different direction and don’t want to get caught up with the norm just because I’m from Texas.

Deezy, you have an insanely catchy bounce track titled “Do Ya Dance”. Who was responsible for the production of the track and will there be a video shot for the track?

Actually, “Do Ya Dance” was produced by an old co-worker of mine named Dez. Shout out to Baker Man Beats! And yes, I definitely have a video in mind for this track. Matter of fact, I’ve had numerous ideals for the video and will be working on this soon.

“Thru The Storm” is another strong release from out of your catalog Deezy. Could you share with the viewers what inspired you to create this soldier theme song?

“Thru The Storm”, which was also produced by Dez, is a song that was created when I was at my weakest point in life. The thing about me as an artist is I’m never been afraid to share my struggles, my pain, my battles and my dreams with the world.  All of those emotions rolled into one is how “Thru The Storm” came about.

Your new video/single is the go getta anthem, “Imma Eat”. What inspired the creation of the song and how did you come into contact with Yung Xclusive, the producer of the song?

The idea for “Imma Eat” was created from anger and hunger. I was in the studio and had words with somebody that I felt was holding me back, in my mind I’m like imma eat regardless. Yung Xclusive made the track and gave it to a homeboy of mine’s. Shout Out Yung Phe! Yung Phe had the track first, he let me hear it and he said yeah, I was going to do some thing to it but I just knew you could come up with something so I’m giving it to you. Then after the situation at the studio, I went home, sat in my car around 2:00 am in the morning and I wrote the whole song right in my car.

Your rhyme style draws close comparisons to Lil Boosie & Plies. Did those particular artists have any type of influence over your rhyme style or is that pure coincidence?

Funny you mentioned Lil Boosie’s name because he is my favorite artist overall and anyone that knows me musically knows that if I wasn’t jamming my own music it was always Lil Boosie. I felt like at times he was talking to me through him or his music. I’ve been compared to Lil Boosie alot more than any other artist in the industry. Plies is also an artist I jammed alot. It kind of shocked me that his name was mentioned… So yea, Plies was a surprise.

What’s next up for you King? A new single or mixtape release possibly?

For me right now “Imma Eat” is my main focus. I mean the song and video is catching alot of attention which I kind of figured it would. Imma Eat can mean alot, it’s a universal term. I am working on my mixtape, “A King off His Throne”, so be on the look for that.

Do you have any upcoming shows or collabs you’d like the people to be informed about?

At the moment, I’m working with DJ 904 out of Jacksonville, Florida and booking some shows out here in Jacksonville. I am still traveling back and forth to Dallas, hitting the stage at Rip the Mic and Wild Out Wednesdays. As far as collabs, until Boosie, Big Krit and Ludacris give me a call, I’m looking to collab with my brother from another mother Plexxx, August Redd and La’shae to name a few. These are three very talented artists out of Dallas, Texas.

I first wanna give a shout out to God, without him there would be no King Deezy. Also, to everyone that has played apart in my music success. Last but not least, I want to give a shout out to Blitz B for making this possible.

With releases such as “Imma Eat”, “Do Ya Dance” and “Thru The Storm”, King Deezy is definitely an artist to watch in 2015. We’d like to thank the Dallas representative for stopping thru for the interview and wish him continued success throughout his music career. This has been another edition in our “Buzz’N” iNterview series. We’ll see you next time Buzzers.
