What’s up Buzzers? We are back again for another installment of our “Buzz”N” iNterview series and were pleased to announce it’s with the highly talented R&B/ Soul singer out of Iowa state, Kristin Kyle.

Hello Kristin, let’s start things off with you explaining to the viewers who you are, what you do musically and where it is you’re from.

Hey! My name’s Kristin Kyle. I’m a 22 year old R&B/indie singer. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia until the age of fourteen.

What influenced you to get involved with singing and pursuing music seriously?

I first realized I loved singing when I was in 5th grade. My music teacher, Ms. Opey, had me sing a solo for the whole class and I remember everyone was so quiet. She told me to never stop singing, that I was blessed and others would enjoy my voice. Then when I was around sixteen, I started writing lyrics and at  eighteen, I started recording hooks for local rappers. I remember thinking why don’t I just make my own music, then I started on my now first EP.

You moved to the Midwest from Georgia at the age of fourteen. Did growing up down South & being exposed to alot of soulful music help lead you into that particular genre?

I would say that could definitely be some of the reasoning. I grew up in a lot of different environments. My dad and mom’s places were in completely different surroundings.

You released your first project last year on September 13th titled “Diamond Armor”. The album has seven tracks and boasts features from Blaak Child, Rahlan Kay, Jose G & Amanda Bella. What producers did you work with on the project and what is the meaning behind the title “Diamond Armor”?

I worked with talented producers Sneek-E, Ghost, JBIII and 500 DJ Benz from Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas. I wanted everything on my album to be completely original.
The idea for the album name came from the song I wrote called “Diamond Armor”. I decided to call it Diamond Armor because how I see it as diamonds are beautiful but also very strong. Diamonds are also created from fire which is one of the most powerful elements on earth. I’ve been through a lot in my life and realized you can be beautiful to people but that doesn’t mean you have to let them get to you.

Here’s “She’s A Keeper” off of Kristin’s first album “Diamond Armor”

Speaking of “Diamond Armor” & Blaak Child, you recently dropped the official video for “Soldier”, which was directed by Jbooth. The video is making a splash online, congratulations on that. How did all of this come to light and what is your definition of a soldier?

Thanks!  I wrote “Soldier” a couple of years ago and when I released my EP, a lot of people gravitated towards that song.  The video idea came from me and Jbooth brainstorming over emails together. I believe there is many types of soldiers.  There’s soldiers at war, at home, in the hospital, walking down the street, etc. A soldier to me is someone who chooses to keep conquering despite what life puts around them.

Your next musical endeavor is “Learning to Love”, which is your second project and will feature some well known producers & artists. Who are you/ will you be working with on the album and what type of material can we expect from you?

I definitely want to get some female features. I have producers such as Sneek-E, Saul Garza, Iso and  Branu currently and going to be adding a guitar track. This album’s going to be diverse; the songs will be r&b , soul and indie.

Other than music, what else does Kristin Kyle have planned for her career in the future?

Currently I’m at my 3rd management position at a hookah lounge. I want to branch out and have aspirations of owning a lot of businesses. I’m also starting college this coming year to keep advancing that.

Kristin, where can readers/ viewers find you online?

You can find my album “Diamond Armour” on ITunes,  spotify, amazon, and reverbnation.

Lastly, is there anyone you’d like to shout out or give thanks to?

I wish I could write all the names but there’s too many. Shout out to everyone who’s respected, and taken time to work with me and enjoy my music. Thank you to everyone who’s supported, loved and believed in me. With out great people surrounding me I couldn’t be where I am today.

There you have it, another “Buzz’N” iNterview segment has come to a close unfortunately. However, we were fortunate enough for the beautiful Cedar Rapids songstress Kristin Kyle to take time out of working on her upcoming project to chat it up with us. We thank her for doing so and urge you to not only cop Kristin’s first project, “Diamond Armor”, today but to stay tuned for more music from the talented R&B singer in the months to come.
