(New Album)-@Lewis “Black Autumn 1993”

BlackAutumn

New Jersey artist Lewis Allen just released his groundbreaking album “Black Autumn 1993”.

The creative process of Black Autumn 1993 was the purest of mine yet. Every record came from a specific situation that was happening in my life and in my mind. It ultimately became somewhat of a diary to me half way through the process. The phrase in the title “Black Autumn” marks the season I began working on it. September 2012, after a break up with my girlfriend of 4 four years I fell into a lonely place that I’ve never been to before. It was depressing, but like any artist, it wasn’t difficult to find a way to thrive off of the darkness of the time. Put plainly I went out and tried to hurt myself, traveling around the country and living the life I was always told I held myself back from.

Trying dangerous things and getting involved with the wrong people from an observer’s perspective can seem cool and rogue but in all actuality I feel more lucky than anything. Lucky to come home to my family and friends and lucky to be able to supply the world with powerful and thought provoking music to challenge listeners to take things to the next next level. The magic of the album is something many may not believe. A lot of the songs came from dreams and my thoughts on hypothetical situations that could possibly occur in the relationships I was involved in. Many songs were created before the actual events happened. Its as if I knew all along the outcome of my actions. Hence the “1993″ to complete the title. I felt like a time traveler. Of course I say that because saying I think I’m psychic is stupid and when you’re honest with yourself, you pretty much know what your consequences will be.

The album is an epic take on my survival. I express fears and ignorance that I wasn’t comfortable revealing but I felt it necessary. For once I stopped trying to make music I thought people would like. I stopped listening to other artists. I became frustrated with producers and started making my own beats from scratch, sample-less and with pure emotional melodies. This album comes from me. It comes from my hands and from the air I breathe every day.

Nearing the end of the creative process I linked up with Under LA as we’ve worked together in the past on LIONMMVIII’s “By The Gods” album. Under LA is a streetwear brand lead by Tishaun Dawson that often links with musician to create visionary projects. He created this visual experience in the form of a graphic novel come to life that expresses the exaggerated and artistic take on the realities of my thoughts throughout this creative process.

I hope that in listening to this album, people don’t prejudge or listen in two dimensions. My purpose in releasing this to the public is to entertain and inspire. Whether you need a theme song or someone to relate to so you can carry on in your life, I know there’s something for you on Black Autumn. This is merely a new beginning to a brand new journey. Thank you and enjoy the ride, “Black Autumn 1993”.
