Illinois’ “off the grid” minded emcee Serious Matters links up with Chicago producer DJ BB Famous for “Tomorrow”, the lead off single to Matter’s upcoming “Ember” album. Mixed and recorded by the newest member of Elgin, Illinois’ Watch City posse Kasz, Serious drops intense lyrics such as in the following verse from the song:
But you ain’t ask’n for or add’n up or break’n this shit down
and It’s madness that surrounds us in a circus full of clowns
On a subject sundered subjugated every body bows
To the rule of an un-debated risen evil house
Ism Skism Get’em cyber brick’em fix what’s in’em now
Debt precision pack’em in’em tip’em max those prisons out
They can’t take another border no more conquer and expand
So they siphon in geography to add to what they have
Then they white it with bureaucracy and darken it with fear
And teach everything between it that the red was never here
What you think you looking at, try it, I have made it crystal
That you ain’t see’n shit past the prism of a pixel
Past the bitch that’s in a pistol when it’s pointed at my heart
Cuz I will have tomorrow if it sits or if it barks
So you can all power other under since it won
Or we can be tomorrow something more than its become… cuz it becomes
Tomorrow
Here is what Serious had to say about the song:
Tomorrow… Lyricism from the heart and the experience of life within life, the need to reach out for something more for us all. The reflection of what yesterday and today do to make tomorrow what it becomes. Poetix, Rhyme Scheme, metaphor, imagery, and the love of pen work and its translation to vocals. Tomorrow is where we all end up together, in the flesh or otherwise. Like it or not, it is what we share, worldly, within our own country, and all the way down to the five feet that surround us during our walk on whichever path we are on. Tomorrow is for every living thing, it’s time we be together something more than it’s become.
