Buzzin Interview with Spoat
What’s up Spoat? Tell us a little bit about your come up. Where you are from, who you’ve worked with, and where you intend on going….
What up! My come up has been a full-time grind – a struggle, bumpy road or what ever you want to call it. Shit has been tough in a nut shell.
I’m from South Florida – Hollywood, Liberia. I’m residing in Miami and I work with a little bit of everybody from the 305, Ball Greezy, C-Ride, Brisco, Billy Blue, E-Class, Urban Mystic, Gorilla Tek, and Young A.C.
I also got the chance to work with Juvenile, who was one of my inspirations. I intend on going to the top of this shit, you know. I want to reach my highest peak in this the game.
You just release your mixtape called Spoat Illustrated, and have another two volumes on deck. Do you consider Hip Hop a sport of sorts? If so, how do you play it?
Well, I guess you can say I consider this Hip Hop game a sport since its super competitive. The way I play it is simply – go hard!
Musically, I play with all types of styles in the studio to make good songs. I try to keep up with this social network shit too. From the business angel I just stay on top of work period.
If you had to explain your sound of music to a def person in the written word, how would you explain it to them?
If I had to explain my sound to a deaf person in written words – smooth, hardcore, powerful, and inspiring.
What has been your biggest moment so far as an emerging artist?
My biggest moment was dealing with Poe Boy Music Group. The word got around Miami fast and before I knew it I had a song featuring my brother Brisco on the radio. I know I’ll have bigger moments in my career soon, as long as I keep focus. I feel people don’t really know what I’m capable of, so it’s up to me to show these niggas.
Talk to us about your hood. Its not like most major cities so where do you all record, network, chill, etc. Where can we find you on a weekend night?
The hood where I’m from is a small place full of young boys who sell dope and people surviving and fighting the struggle. You know, just like any other hood.
I do a lot of recording at Point Blank City studio and in-house with my Boss Grind fam. I try to drop at least four or five songs every session. I like to network wherever but mostly night clubs, South Beach and studios like the Circle House.
Is there anything else you want our readers to know about Spoat and his music? Let them know.
On the weekend, let’s see, I’m probably in the lab trying make that magic happen but I’m working on the second issue of Spoat Illustrated out in Las Vegas so some weekends I’ll fall into Club Tao or 1Oak.
Any shouts out?
Hell yea, don’t sleep on me – I’m gonna be dropping tape after tape, video after video in y’all chest until the whole world’s a believer. I got what it takes to penetrate this game and make a big impact! That’s on PBC BG. Spoat!
