GETYOURBUZZUP.COM INTERVIEW WITH CITIZEN SHANE
Tell us about you and your movement.
I go by Citizen Shane aka Shane Sharp and I’ve loved hip hop and music since I was five years old. I’m passionate about everything the music and culture ever produced so you will see me cover all types of emotions and facets of life in my songs.
My movement is and always will be what defines me as a person which is the concept GhettoTECH. That means being from and of the hood but being knowledgeable and intelligent enough to survive in the corporate world, the technological world and prepared to face any intellectual or professional challenge and conquer those obstacles the same way you would any situation in the streets. My versatility as a human being will be reflected in my body of work. And not to toot my own horn but when it comes to lyrics I gotta say beep beep because I’m nice with it.
When did you start to develop your artistry?
I’m not sure of that exact moment because that was a minute ago and I’m still developing my artistry now and I always will be because if you’re not evolving you’re dying. I wrote my first rap when I was 9 years old in the fifth grade. My development is happening faster now because the music all around us is more accessible than ever and as any true student of hip hop knows, rap music came from other genres of music and putting our voices and stories to it.
Who are some of your musical influences?
Biggie, Wu-Tang, Big Daddy Kane, Jeru the Damaja, Kanye West, Nas, Mos Def, Snoop, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Outkast, De La Soul, Shafiq Husayn, Sade, Stevie Wonder, Fever Ray, La Roux, Vybz Kartel. I could go on and on forever that list is crazy and I seriously mean every one of those and more but like I said I would be here forever.
What current projects are you working on?
I’m still pushing the GhettoTECH Volume 1 project and in the midst of working on GhettoTech The Dollar Store Edition and simultaneously working on The Heart.
How are you planning to ‘Get Your Buzz Up’?
By talking to people like you and getting the eyes and ears on the websites and blogs to listen to my music. I’m a pretty engaging dude so I’m sure I’ll do or say something people think is controversial or funny without even meaning to. Once my content increases I think people will want to get to know me. Also, performing in front of people that matter and building relationships with other artist and producers of all types of genres to collaborate. I will not stop.
