New ‘Buzzin’ Interview w/ @TheRealJustino

Tell us about you and your movement

I go by the name Justino, and I rep Long Island NY. Its been a while since Long Island had a solid artist break into main stream hip hop and that’s what we intend to do. When I say we I mean me and my producer K to the Dash. The different sound that we bring to the table is a movement in itself. Its just good music period. I refuse to put something out that I wouldn’t listen to. That’s my entire philosophy, if I wouldn’t listen to it its not getting put out. I think that if more artists had that same mentality there would be better music out there.

When did you start to develop your artistry?

I actually started writing when I was 15. But I wrote on the low. I never told anyone meanwhile I had a dozen notebooks full of rhymes that I had written. But back then I was just writing bars and bars and more bars. I never sat and tried to construct a song really. When I was about 16 or 17 I started wanting to make records instead of just writing a 3 page ramble you know. It wasn’t until I was 19 or so that I started liking where I was headed musically. I always knew I had something that made me worth listening to but in the past couple of years I have reached where I want to be as an artist. Im 24 now and I am loving every record I make. That’s how an artist should feel about their music in my opinion, or why do it you know?

Who are some of your musical influences?

Man I have so many where do I even start. I was really influenced by Jay-z growing up. He was the man to me as a kid. His consistency blew me away. He would put out an album every year that was just as good as the last one. I had them all.  Nas was a huge influence on me too. I loved the way he would say so much with less words. I learned that from him. You can paint a picture so clearly if you cut out the fluff and get right to the point. I listened to a lot of Tupac as well. I think he was just a genius that decided to rap. I don’t think there will ever be another thinker like Pac in rap music. I’m also influenced by the newer guys is the game. I think Wiz Khalifa has a crazy movement. His grass roots campaign that put him on the map is awe inspiring. His grind inspires me. Even guys that haven’t hit the main stream yet inspire me. The L.E.P. Bogus Boys inspire me a lot too. Those guys never quit man. I first saw them on an all access DVD that my man was on like 3 years ago and I thought their segment looked official so I looked them up. I thought they were some new cats trying to do the rap thing you know. They actually been grinding on this music for a minute and they just keep pushing it man. We come from completely different spectrums of the music but I would like to work with them actually. They are a lot rougher around the edges than I am but I’m sure we could find some medium ground and make a smash.

What current projects are you working on?

I’m actually working on an EP right now because the mixtape is done. Its just the promotion that needs to get finished up. The mixtape is coming out in a month or so. It’s something I have worked on for some time because if it’s not perfect to me I won’t put it out just yet. So the mixtape is done and the follow up EP is almost finished. I have enough songs for a couple of albums but I like to record as many songs as possible so that I have a deep folder to choose from and then pick the best ones for the project.

How are you planning to ‘Get Your Buzz Up’?

I’m actually building a website right now so that’s going to be a big part of my campaign. As of right now I have the thisJUSTinMusicTV@youtube and TheRealJustino@twitter but the main promotional tool will be the web site. The twitter and youtube are still being worked on but they are up so hit me on there or the email [email protected].  I’m also going to keep doing shows all over like I have been. The Get Your Buzz Up showcases will always have my loyalty so I’ll hit that stage whenever possible.

Where can we find you online?

You can find me at TheRealJustino@ twitter  and ThisJUSTinMusicTV@youtube. The website is almost finished so you can find me at JustinoMusic.com by late February.
