Wisconsin recording artist Alexander Jay dons all black, channels inspiration from Johnny Cash and walks the line in the self directed video, “Redemption”. The term “music with meaning” is an understatement for this release, as Alexander pulls up his sleeves and takes upon the responsibility of educating others on the dark realities of substance abuse and the lifestyle that comes along with it.

“Redemption” plays like a movie and opens up with A Jay at an NA meeting, speaking at the podium. A cliche situation as the Oshkosh performer is a recovering addict in real life with years of sobriety under his belt. In the video, Alexander plays the role of a vigilante who chooses a local motel as his headquarters as he puts matters into his own hands by taking to the streets to clean things up.

The video also has cameo features from fellow Wisconsin artists Keag and Mozaic, who aid in making this video hit the heart. Producer Dylan Finley also seems to have been inspired by Cash as he delivers an extremely moving instrumental painted full of live guitar samples. In an age where drug abuse and alcoholism is encouraged in music, this artist dares to be different and offers music with substance, something that’s been missing in Hip Hop these days. GYBU is proud to premiere Alexander Jay‘s dramatic “Redemption” below.
