Taking a slight detour from her previous releases, the Sam Katz produced song displays L.A.’s growth in body, mind and spirit. An anthem of belonging and self-acceptance, “The Island” champions for the freedom of the brown girl and is an acclamation of the beauty of not fitting into society’s “norm”, yet still feeling at home.
